Cooling tower corrosion inhibitors are specialized chemical formulations used to protect metal surfaces in cooling towers and open-loop circulation systems against electrochemical corrosion caused by oxygen, dissolved salts, and aggressive ions. These products control the corrosion rate by forming a protective layer on carbon steel, copper alloys, and other metal surfaces within the system.

Uncontrolled corrosion in cooling towers leads to damage to heat transfer surfaces, shortened equipment life, and increased operating costs.
